Today, 30th December 1941 the Japanese Imperial Army began attack British army defence positions at Kampar, Perak. People could hear the continuous pounding of the artillery as far as Ipoh, Gopeng, Batu Gajah, Tapah and Bidor. The night sky was lit by giant flashes as the cannos roared. This great artillerry contest marked the beginning of the epic four-day Battle of Kampar (30th December 1941-2nd January 1942).
